Be Proud and Be Present
Dear 'Dega Family,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome the opportunity to serve the Talladega College Atlanta Alumni for a second term.
We have continued to increase our yearly memberships with last year (2023) being our greatest membership to date at 76 members.
Please help me continue to grow our organization membership count by inviting your friends and classmates that live in Atlanta and the surrounding cities throughout Georgia. We would love to have them join us and help us continue to support our “Dear Ole Dega.”
We continue to make new strides by having fundraisers that are unique such as “Brunch & Bubbles”, which included a line dancing instructor. That was so much fun to watch our members learn how to line dance! Another creative fundraiser was a virtual “Fall Fundraiser 2023” that was implemented in record time and brought in the donations needed for our annual year end donation to Talladega College. We were able to attend the Inaugural 1867 Society Scholarship Gala as a Sponsor in the Fall of 2023. Everyone’s donations allowed us to donate a check for $10,000 from the Atlanta Chapter. We have been able to continue to donate a $10,000 check back to Talladega College yearly since 2021. Let’s continue to work in 2024 so that we can send even more at year end!
Please also remember that we can only have our fundraisers and scholarship activities by having committees in place to implement the fundraisers so successfully. Join one of our committees that you may have an interest in! We have fun in every committee! I have been working with the Technology Committee and we are proud to have developed our new Atlanta Alumni Website (Talladegaatlanta.com).
If you haven’t already, please go out to the website and look around.
We also gave scholarships in 2023 to 2 deserving Atlanta Freshman Students as they matriculated to Talladega College last fall. Our committee worked very hard to ensure each student received $1,000.00 each. The committee was able to implement a “Back to School Campaign” through again your donations. The Atlanta Alumni Chapter packed up gift bags for returning students and traveled to Talladega during Fall Registration Week 2023 and gave them to returning students. So much fun to give back! Please join us this year in the Fall 2024 as we repeat this fun activity.
Finally, we must all pay our Local ($20.00) and National Dues ($50.00) that are due yearly at the first of every year.
If you ever have questions or new ideas, please don’t hesitate to contact me. My cell number is 770-714-1111 or email address (gbmcclendo@aol.com).

Win TCNAA Seats
Congratulations to the Atlanta members who successfully won TCNAA TCNAA seats. We look forward to their continuing the successful track record of the previous administration.
2nd Annual Talladega College Meet & Greet
Over 50 alumni descended on campus with more than 200 care packages for incoming Freshman students during August’s Orientation . A main objective was to meet and start building relationships with Metro Atlanta students starting their Freshman year with the plan to be there for them throughout the college experience. As they welcomed new and returning students their presence left a positive imprint of Dega spirit and pride.
